As of October 1st, comrades Mario Gonzalez, Carlos Lopez ‘El Chivo’, Fernando Barcenas and Abraham Cortez, imprisoned in different prisons in Mexico City, are carrying out a hunger strike indefinitely.

Four days in to the hunger strike, we make a call for solidarity to the struggle that the comrades are carrying out, fighting the society of incarceration in its heart.

We do not seek to transform them into heroes, let alone fall into a logic of victimization. We understand that, despite their imprisonment, despite the deprivation of freedom of their bodies, their ideals and dreams for a society liberated from dominance and exploitation continues to be free.

Their struggle is ours.

Just like them we also despise mechanisms of control and dominance of this prison-society.

We refuse prison and, with it, the system to which it belongs.

For the retrieval of our lives!
Down with the prison walls!
Freedom to all!

M.Gonzalez (imprisoned in Torre Medica in Tepepan) :
Physically he is still strong for now, but there are worries for his pancreas and liver, and the comrade shows signs of fatigue, slight dizziness when he gets up, but he is in good spirits and calm. The prison doctors check on him three times a day, attempting to prove he is not on hunger strike.

A.Cortez and F.Barcenas (Imprisoned in Norte prison): Both are in the newcomers’ cells, and the prison doctors check them 3 times a day. They both lost weight and show signs of fatigue, but are determined to continue.

C.Lopez
(imprisoned in Oriente prison):
He was moved from the main prison population to the newcomers’ cells. He shows signs of fatigue, mild dizziness and slight weight loss.

He is transferred to the infirmary of the prison 3 times a day. Guards and other prisoners pressure him to end the hunger strike, but the comrade remains undeterred.

The following solidarity actions have been planned for the next few days:

Solidarity gathering outside Norte prisons today Tuesday October 7th, at 2pm.

Demonstration against the prisons from Torre Medica in Tepepan towards Oriente prison, on October 12th, at noon.

On the morning of May 16th, comrades Amélie and Fallon were notified that they would be taken to the Reclusorio Sur (Mexico City’s Southern Penitentiary) to testify on new charges under federal order.

At around 8am, both were transferred to the court, where they met comrade Carlos.

After waiting almost all morning, they were finally informed that an arrest warrant was executed for the offense of damage to others’ property, in the form of “arson in a building with some person inside.” The three comrades did not make a statement, and once the hearing was over, they were brought back to the prisons where they’re being held since February 2014 (Carlos to the Reclusorio Oriente, Amélie and Fallon to Santa Martha), after having spent 40 days in federal custody through the arraignment procedure.

This means that from now on the comrades are facing two criminal proceedings; one under local jurisdiction for the offenses of attacks to public peace and aggravated damages (attack on a Nissan dealership), for which they have no right to bail, and a federal process for the offense of damage to others’ property (attack on the Secretariat of Communications and Transport).

The comrades are well, and were able to mention that they were not beaten during the transfer.

The next hearing of the local proceeding is set for May 19th, while the federal hearing’s date will be determined this coming Sunday (18/5).

Once again we call for solidarity with comrades Amélie, Fallon and Carlos, who are kidnapped by the Mexican State since January 5th (5e).

The State/Capital is the only terrorist!
Neither guilty nor innocent!
Freedom for all!

Yesterday February 17, marked the end of the 40 days of arraigo* decreed by the Attorney General of the Republic against our compañerxs Carlos López, Amelie Pelletier and Fallon Poisson.

During these forty days they tried to put together a case for Terrorism and Organized Crime against them, however, and despite intimidating and inquisitorial methods, they were unable to mount their case, so that at the end of the arraigo our compañerxs were released for lack of evidence. The Local Police of the Federal District has since detained them on charges of damages and attacks to public peace. Amelie and Fallon are now in the women’s prison Reclusorio Femenil de Santa Martha and were visited by their lawyers, while Carlos called and said he is in Reclusorio Oriente, however it wont be until tomorrow that he can receive visitors.

Since the charges they are facing aren’t for major crimes, it is possible for them to reach bail, although we should remember that Mario González facing the same situation has had bail refused systematically, arguing that he is a danger for society.

Let’s continue solidarity with our sisters and brothers kidnapped by the State!

Freedom for Carlos, Amelie and Fallon!

Freedom for Mario, Salvador and Fernando!

Freedom for all!

Down with the prison walls!
