2. Establishment of a revolutionary panafricanism

3. Overthrowing of capitalism, imperialism, patriarchy and neo colonialism

4. Stop to the ecocide on the african continent and other former colonies

5. Global freedom of movement for all people

6. Consequent denazification

7. Abolishment of the police and prison justice, replacement with community based alternatives

8. Societal and institutional reappraisal of colonial history

9. Universal access for all people to education, healthcare and basic standard of living without capitalist demands of productivity

All these goals have the intention of long-term abolishing of marginalizing conditions, not only for Black people. Until they are not met, it’s our responsibility to work towards security and material support for our Black communities.

We can’t subvert these structures while they exist. The forced distribution of resources that is maintained by police and military denies us access to essentials like shelter, food and water when we try to deny participation.
The obligation to participate and the uncontrolled growth of the economy that produces for profit and not for people is not sustainable, proven for example by the climate catastrophe that’s already hitting exploited regions.

The wealth of industry nations feeds off this exploitation. Oil, rare earths and metals, gold, diamonds, everything that is of value in this capitalistic world, was stolen from countries that couldn’t militarily withstand colonization. This is the ultimate form of gain: Selling stolen resources always yields 100% profit and rapid growth over more than 500 years of colonialism. The perceived superiority of Europe and the US is based in this, which get’s misinterpreted as “capitalism working”.

This exploitation is so obvious that it should force any empathetic person into an unignorable drive for instant resistance. This is where racism comes into play: Due to the racist degradation of Black People from day 1 of our lives, white people lack this kind of empathy. While individual white people are not the cause of this, the structures of society show us that suffering and death of thousands at our borders and billions worldwide, right now in our present, doesn’t push european politics and the white majority into action.

The reason is: Racism is profitale. Racism is profitable for every industry, all of media, for politics, for every individual that isn’t affected by racism itself.
The industry profits off of cheap/free resources, newspapers and TV profit from increased circulation and ratings when they spread and stir up racist sentiments and parlamentary politics and the white majority society profit off of gain and growth that they exclusively accumulate.

Liberal antiracist aspirations will not change this: Every talkshow with a sole Black Person justifying their existence, every antiracist book that becomes a bestseller for a few weeks after a Black Person was murdered, every antiracist workshop in a single department of some corporation that had a racist incident does nothing except increase ratings, profit for the publisher that’s simultaneously publishing racist old white men and fake accountability for corporations that pretend to be diverse; they push the racism discourse from the structural to the individual.

We will never defeat racism by explaining it to whites or “convincing” a “majority” of the neccessity of antiracism. Instead we need to make racism unprofitable with our whole existence, power and might. As long as racism doesn’t cost the perpetrators, we will keep going in circles.

We explicitly don’t expect you to change your consumption: A TV programme doesn’t care if you watch it, a corporation doesn’t care if you buy it’s products, a party doesn’t care if you vote for it. The collapse in their profit must be more direct, in the form of open protest, resistance and disobedience. We can’t develop political power before the day to day work of racist institutions is disturbed and they actively lose money. No incident of racism can go unanswered.

Born Wesley Cook, the activist, journalist and member of the Black Panther Party was driving his taxi in Philadelphia on December 9, 1981, when his brother William “Billy” Cook was stopped by police officer Daniel Faulkner. Abu-Jamal joined them, parked across the street and approached the scene. A few minutes later, he was shot in the chest and Faulkner was shot dead. Abu-Jamal was later arrested as the presumed shooter.

Mumia Abu Jamal has been unjustly imprisoned for 38 years – 29 of them on death row. The case of this African American civil rights activist, author and journalist is an Icon of Anti Black racism and State discrimination.

Last year, the death sentence of the former Black Panther activist was overturned and the case was reopened. For the first time in 38 years, there is hope that Mumia Abu Jamal will be freed.

Mumia Abu-Jamal is 66 year- old and has been diagnosed with congestive heart disease and cirrhosis of the liver. This compounds the increased risk he already faces as a prisoner and as a black person. Now, some activists and sources claim that Abu-Jamal has the symptoms of COVID-19.  Indeed, there are currently 608 active positive cases of COVID-19 among people incarcerated in Pennsylvania state prisons, according to the DOC.  

Abu-Jamal’s health condition is challenged and getting worse. According to Dr. Ricardo Alvarez, an independent physician who has worked in prison for decades, Abu Jamal “not only needs medical attention, but also a specialised diet, exercise and loving human contact that he can never receive in prison.

Therefore, in the context of the international day of political prisoners and as COVID-19 continues to spread to prisons around the world, we, Panthifa and Blackpower Frankfurt, call for the instant  release of Mumia Abu-Jamal and all elderly and medically vulnerable Black political prisoners. As he has fought for humanist and freedom value, we insists that his release is urgent to preserve his dignity and give him a chance to survive this pandemic crisis. Other states have already succeeded in releasing prisoners on health grounds from prisons. 

This is probably one of the latest effort to get Abu-Jamal released from prison.

Why Panthifa?

The Panthifa is a new radical leftist group for Black self empowerment and organisation in Germany. We welcome the success of the young german Black Lives Matter mass movement that connected us, but we see the necessity for radical leftist, anticapitalist, anticolonial and intersectional structures exclusively geared towards Black People. In keeping with diversity of tactics, we don’t want to replace Black Lives Matter but supplement it. Although we are also organized in Antifa- and Migratifa alliances, we see a divide in power between Black and non-Black members that will not be able to be overcome without prior Black self empowerment.

The white german left has yet to find a way to utilize the ressources of Black Activists in their battles. We don’t feel welcome or heard as Black People in white structures, which is why we need to create a space for ourselves that facilitates activistic development without the need of burning us out on educating our white peers.

The Panthifa wants to create and organize a space for community, collective and mutual antiracist and anticolonial education as well as a safe space to exchange experiences with the end goal of Black Structures that are capable of their own activism.

Goals of Panthifa

The Panthifa is organized around a series of longterm and shortterm demands that are upheld by the members.

Longterm Demands:

1. Consequent denazification
2. Reparations for colonialism
3. Abolishing of police and prison justice, replacement by community based alternatives
4. Global freedom of movement and residence for all people
5. Overcoming of capitalism
6. Establishing of a culture of remembrance for colonial crimes
7. Abolishing of performance based school systems and replacement by modular learning structures focussed on individual encouragement and fostering

The goal of these demands is to facilitate the final end of marginalizing conditions, not just for Black People.

Shortterm Demands:

1. Federal antidiscrimination law
2. Lex Specialis criminalizing the use of racist terms
3. Full societal reevaluation of Germanys colonial history
4. Recognition of the genocide against the Herero and Nama perpetrated by Germany
5. Replacement of the word “Rasse” by an appropriate term in the german constitution
6. Removal of colonial memorials and street names out of public spaces
7. State grants for Black Institutions
8. Unconditional basic income for maginalized people
9. Reevaluation and inclusion of colonialism in german school and university curricula
10. Enabling of a Representative Panafrican Studies degree and academic discipline
11. Promotion of Black Student Associations

Who is Panthifa?

The Panthifa is a pro Black movement, from Black People for Black People. Racism can not be overcome before we end capitalism and it’s inherent (neo-)colonialism. The global north established it’s wealth by theft and exploitation of the south. This injustice will never be corrected by capitalistic “development aid”, but only by reparations and solidaric redistribution of ressources.

A fight for Black Liberation will only be successful by liberating us with all our intersections. Only by inclusion of our queer, trans, disabled, neuro atypical, muslim, jewish and indigenous siblings will we be able to consider and include all necessary perspectives. Until we’re all free, nobody is.

The Panthifa is against military and police as tools of national defense and enforcement. These organizations not only serve the defense of nations and their (stolen) capital, but put an unnecessary strain of (imaginary) money and ressources on their own people. Yet we explicitly distance ourselves from pacifism, which is propagated by white people as the “bloodless” ideal way to fight for colonial liberation. This historic revision ignores the unbeliavable bloodshed for the oppressed who chose pacifism, while the oppressors were spared this fate.

Position on white allies

While we want to believe in the good intentions of white allies, they have impressively proven again and again that their priorities are at odds with the vital importance of antiracism. While this must feel like an indictment for white readers, this only shows how inadequate the white analysis of racism is. As per our aforementioned demands, we believe that racism is a structural problem that is enforced by capitalism and it’s inherent colonialism. Yet in the white liberal mainstream, racism is framed as an individual instead of structural shortcoming, which implies that racists are supposedly bad people. This is the basis of individual White Fragility against accusations of racism which amounts to societally rehearsed gaslighting and silencing of Black People.

In a society that structurally trains white people to participate in capitalism, colonialism and exploitation of Black People, it is individually impossible for white people to not be racist. The duty of white allies is to drop their expectation to do antiracism “correctly”, as this 1. is not possible and 2. perpetuates the myth of racism as an individual shortcoming, which prevents societal analysis and reflection.

We call on white allies to support the Panthifa with meeting rooms, money, promotion and logistics when called upon. A further collaboration will only take place under the terms of Panthifa.

What now?

We see the necessity for outspoken radical structures to act carefully and longterm. The first phase of formation and organization will focus on the establishment of a shared identity. We call on all comrades to follow and share our following channels:
