Switzerland: Marco Camenish on hunger strike and work stoppage

From: Contrainfomc

Marco Camenisch is on hunger strike since the 30th of December 2013, contributing to worldwide resistance, the fight for total liberation, and common revolutionary solidarity beyond the various tendencies, calling out everyone to fight against all forms of domination, exploitation and repression, but also against the class war conducted from above on the occasion of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF, in Davos, from 21 to 24 January 2014). “Welcome to the support group for the Blackmail3, who are facing prison as part of an ongoing attempt by the UK authorities to stop people campaigning against animal testing. Browse the site to learn more about the case, what laws are being used and how you can help support the defendants. With the increasing repression of UK animal rights activism it’s important for us to stand in solidarity and resistance – with the animals inside laboratories and those who fight to save them.” Continue reading Blackmail 3

The Bottled Wasp: Pocket Diary 2014

downloadThe Bottled Wasp Pocket Diary is a new not-for-profit prisoner support fundraising project that was officially launched by Brighton Anarchist Black Cross and associates at the 2012 London Anarchist Bookfair. Our plan is to create a long-term stable income for prisoner support activities, delivering a publishing template that can be used by a hopefully independent self-sustaining collective that will go on to produce the diary in future years. 23 December: Masha + Nadia Freed Within Hours of Each Other

From FreepussyriotRUSSIA-MUSIC-RIGHTS-POLITICS

The Guardian reports: Tolokonnikova shouted “Russia without Putin” after she was freed from a prison in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk on Monday. Hours earlier, bandmate Maria Alyokhina was released from a different jail and dismissed the amnesty as a propaganda stunt.

The two women were granted amnesty last week, in what was largely viewed as the Kremlin’s attempt to head off criticism of Russia’s human rights record ahead of the Winter Olympics in Sochi in February. Three band members were jailed after being found guilty of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred and sentenced to two years in prison for a performance at Moscow’s main cathedral in March 2012. Nadezhda Tolonnikova (Pussy Riot!) over werkkampen in Rusland

Our friends from the Anarchist Group Nijmegen made this translation.

Switzerland: Yet another denial of parole for anarchist Marco Camenisch

From: Contrainfomarco-camenisch-2

From the prison of Lenzburg, Marco Camenisch informs us that he has been notified of yet another rejection of his conditional release, to which he should have had access long ago, as he has already served two thirds of the sentence imposed by the Swiss courts. We spread an excerpt from his letter: Continue reading Switzerland: Yet another denial of parole for anarchist Marco Camenisch

Global Noise Demo: New Year’s Eve 2013/2014

From: Anarchist newslawaaidemo51-700x426

Inside and Outside Prisons, Jails, & Detention Centers around the World

This event is inspired by the North American call out for a day of action against prisons in the New Year of 2010/2011, which happened again in 2011/2012 and again last year, & remains relevant unchanged:

Noise demos outside of prisons in some countries are a continuing tradition. A way of expressing solidarity for people imprisoned during the New Year, remembering those held captive by the state. A noise demo breaks the isolation and alienation of the cells our enemies create, but it does not have to stop at that. Continue reading Global Noise Demo: New Year’s Eve 2013/2014

Gender Outlaws

Transgender Prisoners Face Discrimination, Harassment, and Abuse Above and Beyond that of Other Prisoners.

In Idaho, inmate Linda Patricia Thompson wanted a transfer to a wotransgendermen’s prison. A male-to-female transgender woman, or M.T.F., she had been living as a woman for several years, had changed her name legally, and was taking black-market oestrogen when she could. Thompson had never been able to afford sex reassignment surgery, nor could she obtain hormones legally: the signatures of two physicians and a psychiatrist were required, and she couldn’t afford the visits. Still, Thompson was assertively feminine, even in handcuffs. At the time of her arrest, she wore a dress and high heels. Continue reading Gender Outlaws
