Frank Gockel ist eine der Personen, die in Deutschland mit am meisten aus der Praxis der Abschiebehaft erzählen kann. Seit 30 Jahren ist er aktiv mit dem Verein “Hilfe für Menschen in Abschiebehaft Büren e.V”. In dieser Zeit hat er sich für ein Ende der Abschiebehaft eingesetzt, aber insbesondere auch für die solidarische Unterstützung von inhaftierten Menschen. Dadurch hat er ein reichhaltiges Spektrum an Erfahrungen darüber gesammelt, wie Amtsgerichte und Ausländerbehörden systematisch das Recht missachten. Zudem wird an Menschen, die von Abschiebehaft betroffen sind, grundsätzlich schon ein anderer rechtlicher Maßstab angelegt, als an Menschen, die mehr Glück mit ihrer Staatsbürgerschaft hatten.
Frank Gockel wird von seiner Unterstützungsarbeit und Erfahrungen mit Behörden und Gerichten erzählen. Kommt vorbei, wenn auch ihr euch (weiter) desillusionieren lassen wollt, was die rechtsstaatliche Praxis in diesem Land angeht.

Frank Gockel is one of the people in Germany with the most practical experience of deportation detention. He has been active with the association “Hilfe für Menschen in Abschiebehaft Büren e.V.” for 30 years. During this time, he has campaigned for an end to deportation detention, but in particular for solidarity and support for people in detention. As a result, he has gained a wealth of experience of how local courts and immigration authorities systematically disregard the law. In addition, people who are subject to deportation detention are generally held to a different legal standard than people who have been more fortunate with their citizenship.
Frank Gockel will talk about his support work and experiences with authorities and courts. Come along if you too want to be (further) disillusioned about the practice of the rule of law in this country.
